Introduction

The Richmond (VA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated has more than 70 years of distinguished service of reaching out to the community to lend support to others most in need as they navigate life’s journey. The organization is driven by professional women who stand on values and willfully share their talent, knowledge and experiences. Among our members are educators, physicians, dentists, lawyers, judges, bankers, social workers and others.

Members understand the importance of education and pride themselves in preparing youth to succeed academically and socially through its facet programs focused on Services to Youth, The Arts, Health and Human Services, International Trends and Services and National Trends and Services. Evidence of the chapter’s engagement with students is the success of the students of Franklin Military Academy through its Focused Motivated Achievers Program.

The Richmond Chapter prides itself in awarding thousands of dollars to students in need through its scholarship programs. This year, the chapter will award three, $1,000 scholarships based on the results of the application that they complete, the link for which follows on page four of this application package. Other key information about the process and criteria for scholarship recipients are shown on page 3.

The Richmond Chapter is one of 299 Chapters of the Links, Incorporated is an international, not-for-profit corporation, established in 1946. It is one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations committed to enriching, sustaining, and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other people of African ancestry. There are more than 17,000 members in the organization. We stand on the legacy of our founders Margaret Rosell Hawkins and Sarah Strickland Scott, two young Philadelphia, Pennsylvania visionaries.
