The Richmond (VA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated will be hosting the 10th Biennial Fundraiser, Art in the Atrium, on March 30, 2019. Proceeds from this fundraising event will benefit the Black History Museum and Cultural Center of Virginia, Franklin Military Academy, and other community service programs of the Richmond Chapter.

Tim Reid, Honorary Chair

We are honored to have extraordinary actor and businessman Tim Reid as the Honorary Chair of the 2019 Art in the Atrium.

TIM REID, Emmy-nominated actor, director and producer, has appeared on television for over three decades, from Venus Flytrap, on WKRP in Cincinnati through Simon & Simon, Frank’s Place, Sister,Sister, That 70’s Show, HBO’s Treme, and recently OWN’s Greenleaf and Love Is.

1995, he made his directorial debut with his critically acclaimed feature film, “Once Upon a Time…When We Were Colored.” Tim’s other film projects include New Millennium ‘s feature production, “Asunder,” starring Blair Underwood, Debbi Morgan and Michael Beach, and “For Real”, which Reid directed, produced and distributed through New Millennium Releasing. He also created and produced the critically acclaimed Showtime TV series “Linc’s”, and has received the “Oscar Micheaux Award” from the Producer’s Guild of America for outstanding lifetime achievement.

In 2012, Reid co-produced and directed “Keepers of the Flame”, a compelling film about Virginia’s central role in American history, for visitors to the Virginia State Capitol. He recently launched new TV series, Legacy of a People, descripted as a “Talkumentary,” debuted November 2018.

Through his non-profit Legacy Media Institute, he instructs an international group of students and emerging filmmakers, promoting excellence and accountability in creating media that reflects a diverse global society.

Reid has received numerous Honorary Degrees and has been inducted into the National Black College Hall of Fame. He was appointed by two Governors to serve two terms on the Board of Visitors of Norfolk State University, and he currently serves on the Richmond Forum Board.

Through his Tim Reid Productions, he has launched a new Media Center and Creative Incubator in the Manchester area of Richmond, VA.

Faithe Norrell

Faithe Morris Norrell is a self-taught artist who has experience painting on various medium including: canvas, fabric, glass, wood, and walls. She specializes in the juxtaposition of vivid colors and abstract lines but also paints exotic themes, flowers, cityscapes, and folk-art style portraits. Her human figures suggest the style of folk, cubist, and abstract artists. She also creates multi-media pieces incorporating collage, paint, photographs and found objects.

Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, in the 1950s when formal art lessons were not available to a child of color, she has a God-given gift for color and balance and through practice and experimentation she expands her craft. “There has never been a time that I don’t remember having a vision and carrying it out. It has been an exciting journey to arrive at this point where my art is solicited, commissioned, collected and appreciated by others outside of my village.” She has exhibited at the Crossroads Art Center, The Spotlight Gallery, The Walton Gallery, Capital One Corporation’s Richmond Campus, Sun Trust Bank, Richmond City Hall, Arts In The Park, The Black History Museum and Cultural Center, Richmond, VA, and private art shows in Washington, D.C., Williamsburg, and Reston, VA. She was featured in Virginia Living Magazine, and had her art featured in the Richmond Symphony Orchestra League’s Designer House. She has had numerous pieces selected for juried shows and art auctions. Many of her paintings are in private collections throughout the country. She recognizes that her gifts of balance and color are the hallmarks of her work.

Faithe Norrell is a retired teacher and Media Specialist/Librarian. She is the past president and alumna member the Richmond Chapters of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated, and The Links, Incorporated respectively. She is the past president president of The Girl Friends, Incorporated, and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, The Council of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, a member of the Education Committee of The United Way of Greater Richmond (VA), and past president of the Board of Hope For Humanity which supports a secondary school in South Sudan, Africa,
